COLOR OVERVIEW

Spring 2013 colors emphasize balance, according to The Pantone Fashion Color Report. Wardrobe harmony is created using Grayed Jade, Dusk Blue and Linen neutrals with re-energizing bursts of Poppy Red, Lemon Zest, Nectarine, Emerald, Monaco Blue, Vibrant Pink and bright Chartreuse.

Boots That Look Like Knee Socks. Extreme gladiator and bandage boots are styled, for the most part, sock-less and sandal-toe this season. But one way of looking at this is as the glass half full. The silhouette is a nod to socks and will be the catalyst for plenty of "Get the Look" DIY stories that feature far more affordable knee and over-the-knee socks.

Shoes That Look Like Socks. OK, now we're starting to get a complex! Oh well, off the runway, this trend will easily translate with the use of socks.

Cutout, Lace And Fishnet Socks. We saw this look in all legwear profiles - anklets, knee, sheers. It completes an overall feminine look, or adds a soft moment to overall edgier ensembles.

Novelty Socks. They are never out (thanks to holiday gift giving, sports, and comic book heroes!) and now we are seeing them trending over into fashion as affordable, statement accessories.

Tights And Sheers And Over-The-Knee In Spring! Color, and notably black opaque, consistently came down the runways and really make sense in this new wild weather world we live in.

Socks With Pumps. Delicate, bright hued, textured, printed, or sweater - style is less important than silhouette - the most important thing is to pair socks with heels to make this season's modern statement.

Legwear With Cropped Pants. Yes! Bare ankles are O-U-T!

Shorts With Crew Or OTC Socks. THE hipster statement. There we said it. Embrace it.

Striped Socks. Polka Dot Socks. Bold Patterned Socks. Socks are expression and who doesn't love a little individuality in an office or gym full of conformists?

Cropped Pants. Tailored short or rolled up, a peek of sock is still hot, hot, hot.

Skirts with Socks. The look appeared in enough shows that it can not be dismissed as a novelty anymore.

COLOR OVERVIEW

Pantone describes Fall 2012 as a magical palette of color potions ready to evoke confidence, or encourage comfort. Use of Tangerine, vibrant Pink, bright Chartreuse, Black & Blue, Pops of Ultramarine Green, and Gold accent metal are discussed further in the members-only full report.

WOMEN’S STYLING STORIES

Animal Prints Beyond Leopard. Animal skin prints have been strong in apparel for some time, and they’ve moved to legwear in a bold way. This season fresher, more unusual animal prints, including python-print tights by THA Members Hue and leopard-print tights by K. Bell are hot.

Uber Femininity With A Twist. Back seams, fishnets, and lace hosiery are repeated details in all of the collections. THA Member Kushyfoot offers styles making this trend easy to pull off.

Anchor Tights. Tights have never been a more important wardrobe staple. THA Member Kushyfoot has the perfect solutions for incorporating this trend.

Classic Socks For Modernizing Second-Season Looks. Ankle boots, strong for a few seasons now, are being updated with ankle and crew sock styling. Day and evening ensembles are being punched up with classic black knee and over-the-knee socks as a modern statement.

Boyfriend, Camping Plaids And Military-Man. This trend calls for one thing: boot socks. Boot socks help say in a louder way I borrowed EVERYTHING from him.

MEN’S STYLING STORIES

Cropped Pants. We here at THA call this trend a cash cow. Thank you designers!

Color! Particularly tangerine, is a guy’s statement making accessorizing BFF.

Black Casual Socks With Shorts. We first started seeing this on city skateboarders and now it’s exploding onto the runway.

Neutral Framing. Sock islands of tranquility in thick textures help to rescue the eye from too much color and design throughout the look.

Relaxed From Head To Toe. Cozy themes call for cozy socks.

Tonal Apparel. This trend is so chic but it screams somebody please break up the monotony with some visible sock interest when I sit down!

Funky Shoes. This season’s show-stopping iridescent, metal-capped toe, even cartoonish shoes are shown off even better when the eye is driven to them with cropped pants and peek-a-boo socks.

Das Boots. Walking is made for boots this season. One thing is certain. You may have gone sockless with smoking shoes and topsiders over the summer, but boots need socks.
