 PowerSox Athlete Dave Hahn Summits Mt. Everest for 12th Time
NEWTON, NC
– May 25, 2010 – PowerSox sponsored athlete Dave Hahn has reached the top of Mt. Everest, summiting for the 12th time and beating his own record for most summits by a non-Sherpa climber.
Hahn wore a key bit of gear for his Mt. Everest record – performance engineered PowerSox, a Gold Toe brand. He has not only reached the summit of Mt. Everest wearing PowerSox, but also has lead expeditions through extreme weather conditions on the world’s other daunting peaks, including Mt. McKinley (Denali) in Alaska and Vinson Massif in Antarctica.
The world-renowned, professional mountaineer has been recognized for his actions above and beyond guiding. An ascent in 2002 was curtailed when Hahn, putting the safety and well-being of another ahead of his own goals, chose to commandeer the rescue of an injured climber rather than continue on to the top, for which the American Alpine Club gave him the David A. Sowles Memorial Award. He has also been awarded the Citizen’s Award for Bravery from the U.S. Department of the Interior for rescues on Mt. McKinley.
